How to Write CV Bullet Points That Win Interviews

Most CVs list duties. Interviews come from evidence. Use this formula on every bullet:

**Action + scope + result + timeframe.**

*Before:* Responsible for stock control. *After:* Rebuilt stock control across 2 warehouses (12k SKUs), cutting stock loss from 4.1% to 1.3% in 8 months.

*Before:* Worked on the customer support inbox. *After:* Handled 60+ tickets a day, holding a 96% CSAT and reducing first-response time to under 20 minutes.

*Before:* CNC machine operator. *After:* Operated 3-axis CNC to ±0.02mm tolerance on aerospace parts; zero non-conformances across 14 months.

*Before:* Supported residents in a care home. *After:* Keyworker for 8 residents; led a falls-reduction change that cut incidents by a third over two quarters.

*Before:* Did a university group project. *After:* Led a 4-person team building a Python dashboard for a local charity; adopted and still in use by 6 volunteers.

**Rules that make it work:**

- Start with a strong verb: rebuilt, negotiated, reduced, launched, recovered, automated, trained. - One idea per bullet, maximum two lines. - Three to six bullets per recent role, one or two for older roles. - If you have no hard number, use frequency, scale or comparison: "busiest of 4 branches", "first in the team to", "covering 3 sites". - Never claim a number you cannot explain in interview.

Do this for six bullets and your CV will outperform 90% of the pile.
