Six interview answers that consistently land at senior level

Talent Media · 10 July 2026 · 5 min read

The questions barely change. The quality of the answers is where senior candidates separate themselves.

Senior interviews test judgement, not knowledge. These six answers are worth preparing properly.\n\n1. **Why are you on the market?** Forward looking, never critical of your employer.\n2. **Walk me through your biggest failure.** Own it fully, then explain the system you changed afterwards.\n3. **What would you do in your first 90 days?** Listen, diagnose, then a named quick win.\n4. **How do you handle underperformance?** Show a process, not an anecdote.\n5. **What is your leadership style?** Give an example, not an adjective.\n6. **What questions do you have for us?** Ask about the thing that would make you fail here.
